DAVID UTZ is an artist of many interests, a painter, sculpture, and graphic designer who has won recognition and awards. Born in Norwalk Connecticut in 1949. The Utz family moved to Sarasota in 1953. His inspiriation is fueled by many influences: the clean sense of composition and style of the turn-of-the-century illustrators, the bold graphics and vibrant colors the Caribbean and the contemporary look of media art of the 1960’s. His work has been displayed at the New York Art Exhibition, reproduced in a suite of large serigraphs by Mill Pond Press and has been seen internationally on CD-ROM children games, t-shirts, plates, puzzels, cards and shower curtains. In his “Surreal Jungle Paintings” David pays homage to the surrealists, pop artists and Henri Rousseau. David is also influenced by his father, renowned fine artist and illustrator Thornton Utz.
